ITANAGAR, Oct 27: The central bureau of investigation (CBI) has taken over the investigation into the alleged question paper leak of the assistant engineer exam conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission on August 26 and 27, officials said on Thursday.
The Superintendent of Police, Special Investigation Cell (SIC) Anant Mittal (IPS) today informed that  all the formalities to hand over the case to the CBI is completed  and within next four days all the required documents, evidence related to the APPSC AE Paper leak  case  will be submitted to them.
"CBI team led by its Joint Director is here in the  state and all the official formalities has been completed; CBI has also filed an FIR,“ added the SP.
Speaking to the media persons, Mittal also disclosed that during the investigation SIC found  two more people involved in the APPSC (AE-Civil) question paper leak case but both are on the run.
One is a candidate (AE examination) and another is a broker. While the candidate is cooperating in the investigation, the other is on the run and the police are tracing his location. The arrest of the candidate will be made subsequently when the order is reviewed by the court, he said.
“The broker who is on run has been identified as Jobom Chang Mengu from Pasighat. However, the police has contested his bail application in the Guwahati high court and the police won,” he said, adding that SIC is expecting a positive review from the Itanagar branch of the High Court.
“In the meantime, if anyone has evidence related to the case may please come to the office,” he appealed.
Related to the disproportionate property of accused Taket Jerang, Mittal said the SIC has written to the DC of Siang district and the ICR respectively to make proper reports on the property owned by Jerang. SIC believes that the concerned authority will look in-depth at the property owned by the accused.
On complaints about the removal of exam results from the website of the commission and lights being on late at night in the commission's office, the SIC made an in-depth inquiry on both cases and came to know the website was revamped in the year 2020. Therefore, results prior to 2020 won’t be available on the website but are with the commission,” he said.
And the area which was lit up was the ‘strong room’ of the commission. The light remains always on to ensure that the CCTV can have clear footage of any wrong happenings.
SIC also checked the CCTV footage wherein it was found that no unauthorized access was made by anyone. Hence, the rumor of tampering with the records by someone during the night is also false, SP added.
He also informed the SIC is also looking into Minoty Borang case. As the case is under investigation, nothing can be disclosed now. The state police have so far arrested 10 people in the case, he added.
