ITANAGAR, Jan 25: Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee (PAJSC) for APPSC has alleged that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has failed to arrest more accused in question paper leak case despite having significant inputs and further blamed the central probe agency of filing a defective Chargesheet against the arrested accused.
Speaking to media at the press club here on Wednesday, Member PAJSC- Tadak Nalo said that almost four months has passed since the CBI took over the AE Paper leak case but it is yet to make any more arrests in the case despite having significant inputs similar to the Special Investigation Cell (SIC).
"The CBI has only filed chargesheet against those accused who were arrested by civil police and SIC," Nalo said while claiming that the Chargesheet filed against the eight accused is defective with no strong IPCs.
The Committee also questioned the standing Counsel for the CBI who has already represented the main accused (Taket Jerang) in the same case. "It is not only a violation of the laid down norms but also a serious crime. Hence, we have appealed to the CBI to change its Counsel or else we will be compelled to lodge a complaint to the competent authority," said Nalo.
Further, he also questioned the 3- Member Committee Report on the APPSC Paper leak issue and termed it as a mere eyewash. The report says nothing about the paper leak and its accusations but it has mentioned only about SOPs and the correction that needs to be made to avoid such incidents in the future, he added.
Meanwhile, the PAJSC has called a mass meeting on January 28 to discuss its further course of action on the issue. Another member of PAJSC,  Rakpi Bagra alleged that the demands of the aspirants are still not fulfilled; demands like investigation from Enforcement Directorate are still pending. All such cases are related to money, so ED must unearth the truth. Moreover, fast-track investigation, Judicial probe in 30 days, and endorsement to the UPSC are still pending, she added. "The Home Minister has called another meeting on  2nd February next to have further discussion on the issue. So, we are very much optimistic that this will be the final meeting for a logical and fruitful solution," Bagra said.
