Ziro, Dec 20 (PTI): Union Minister Kiren Rijiju Thursday asked the voters of his parliamentary constituency to carry out audit of the works he had done in the last four and half years after being elected as MP from Arunachal West Parliamentary seat.
"I have been elected by the people of my constituency at the time when I did not have any support. It is my utmost duty to work for my people who supported me with full faith. I am your representative and if I cannot bring any development in the state, it is useless for me to stay in New Delhi," the Minister of State for Home said while addressing a meeting here.
He said, being a representative from the state, it is his moral responsibility to take up all vital issues of the state with the Centre.
Lashing out at the opposition Congress, Rijiju said that what the NDA government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi did for the North East region in the past four and half year, the previous regime could not do even in several decades.
Terming road as the panacea for development, the Union minister while referring to the Potin-Panging stretch of Trans Arunachal Highway (TAH) said that the road could not took off even after several years of sanction in 2008, due to fault of the state government.
"The project was not delayed by the Centre but by the state government as tender for the vital road was floated in 2012 and all codal formalities including land acquisition process could not be completed within the stipulated time," Rijiju said. Terming compensation issue in vital road projects in the state as a major roadblock to development, he urged the people to cooperate with the government if they want development in real sense.
He added that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) had already sanctioned the Dumporijo to Dollungmukh road and the detailed project report for the road is under preparation. He also disclosed about the 20 crore worth water supply project for Ziro-Hapoli assembly constituency in Lower Subansiri district which has already been sanctioned by the Centre.
