HAYULIANG, Jul 26: In an unfortunate incident on Wednesday, a car plunged into the Lohit River in Anjaw district, leaving the driver missing. The driver has been identified as K Billai, who works as a Head Master at Government Primary School Goiliang.
According to the Superintendent of Police, Anjaw, Rike Kamsi, the incident occurred between Khupa & Swami Camp. The car skidded off from at least  100 meters above the river and despite the recovery of documents from the vehicle confirming the driver's identity, there has been no sign of him so far.
As the authorities have not been able to confirm whether the victim is still alive, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been swiftly alerted for a search and rescue operation. There are suspicions that the body might have been washed downstream due to the force of the river.
The police in Tezu have also been informed and are on high alert to assist in any way possible.
