ITANAGAR, Aug 3: In a swift response, the Itanagar Police arrested two individuals within 24 hours for vandalising an ATM machine in the Ganga area of Itanagar. The incident took place in the early morning hours of August 2 last, when unknown perpetrators attempted to steal money from the ATM, which is operated by NCR Corporation India Pvt Ltd on behalf of the State Bank of India.
Itanagar police in a statement informed that the crime was reported by one Prasanna Borah, a representative of NCR Corporation India Pvt Ltd, Guwahati. Following the receipt of the First Information Report (FIR), the police registered a case under Section 305(a)/62/3(5) BNS, along with Section 3 of the PDPP Act.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was promptly constituted, led by Kengo Dirchi, SDPO Itanagar, under the close supervision of Rohit Rajbir Singh (IPS), SP Itanagar. The team included Inspector K. Yangfo OC PS Itanagar, Sub-Inspector Randhir Kumar Jha (Investigating Officer), and Constables K. Atraham, P. Tara, and M. Kino. The team intensified their efforts and utilized human intelligence to identify the culprits.
Their diligence led to the apprehension of Banu Jorum (40) from Forest Colony Chandranagar and a woman Takam Sampa (20). Both suspects have been placed in judicial custody.
SP Itanagar, Rohit Rajbir Singh, commended the police team for their quick and effective action. He assured that the officers involved would be suitably recognized for their dedication and efficiency in solving the case promptly, demonstrating the commitment of the Itanagar Police to ensuring public safety and upholding the law.
