ITANAGAR, Jun 15:Resentment is brewing against Power Department for erratic power supply in several colonies and sector under capital complex for the last few days.

While the soaring heat of summer is making the capital dwellers crazy, on the other hand frequent power cuts and long hours without electricity have compounded the misery for residents of C, D and E-sector.

Resident also complain that there is no helpline nor any inquiry number to contact to concern power department for inquiry related to power supply in general.

They alleged that sometimes it takes hours for the department to restore electric supply and demanded the authorities to ensure that masses are not made to suffer due to erratic power supply and timely arrangements are made to ensure regular electricity supply.

Meanwhile, in its defence, Capital Electrical Division, Executive Engineer (EE), Nido Taka maintained  that unlike other places, Itanagar has a requirement of minimum power supply of 15.5 MW, while Naharlagun Electrical Division Executive Engineer Ajay Murtem said that there is requirement of 12 MW in peak hours and 11 MW  in normal case.

The duo informed that  frequent power disruption in last few day is due to falling of trees and electricity poles owing to landslides triggered by heavy downpour since last few days in capital complex.

“In some cases there are internal problems like defects in power supply line, which cannot be identified without proper verification and examination by mechanics & technicians and the process takes time and due to which restoring the power supply  gets delayed,” they added.

However the duo admitted that there is no problem in getting power supply from the power grid as they are continually supplying the required power to the state capital.

Furthermore, Naharlagun AE Pura Khankhu and Naharlagun Circle Superintending Engineer Rubu Tago also shared similar problems and stated that regular power supply to affected areas in Naharlagun will be restored very soon.
