Itanagar, Jul 3: The Capital District Administration led by EAC Tamo Dadda, Inspector Yomken Riram Itanagar PS and team of DTCC,ICR Flying Squad conducted checking drive of all the shops situated near educational institutions from Arunodaya School area to the Dera Natung Government College area including Police colony Itanagar today under COTPA section which prohibits sale of cigarettes or other tobacco products to a person below the age of eighteen years and an area within a radius of one hundred yards of any educational institution.
During the course of the checking drive, alcohol being sold illegally were also seized from various shops.
All the seized items --cigarettes and other tobacco products were burnt and illegal alcohol seized was destroyed in presence of Deputy Commissioner Capital Talo Potom, Police and DTCC as per procedure.
The DC informed that the shopkeepers have been warned time and again for selling tobacco products in the restricted area. He has appealed all to cooperate with the administration and further informed that such checking drive would continue in the coming days too along with checking drive for illegally running wine shops, stray animal drive etc.
