Yupia, Dec 20: The District Child Protection Unit Papum Pare District organised one day sensitization-cum- capacity building programme for stakeholders of Child Protection Services like Police, PRI Members, Labour Department and others on  Juvenile Justice( Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015, Juvenile Justice Care and Protection of children rules 2016 and amendment rules 2021  here at ZPC hall, Yupia today.

The Zilla Parishad Chairperson Chukhu Bablu while addressing the participants envisaged on creating more awareness on  child  related protection services and legal adoption rules.

The resource person on the occasion Advocate Nani Modi, Member  Juvenile Justice Board(JJB) spoke about provision of creating a child friendly environment when  dealing with juvenile cases.  Children are the greatest asset of society and involvement  of society and family members is important to shape and protect the future of children, Modi said.

Chairperson Child Welfare Committee Adv . Kada Nada Maling who was also resource person on the occasion gave orientation on role of Special Juvenile Police Unit ( SJPU), Panchayat, Labour Department in matters of child related protection and coordination between different stakeholder.

She presented an overview of activity reports of December 2016 to 27th January’2020 of CWC and  informed that since the inception of CWC more than 400 cases have been received. Stating that child related issues are reportedly increasing in the state, she advocated for  creating  extensive sensitization and awareness  among the people to educate them on child care and protection services. 

She also spoke extensively on role of Special Juvenile Police Unit responsibilities  in dealing with child related issues.   

Speaking on the role of PRI members on Child related issues and awareness problem at grassroot level, she  requested the Zilla Parishad Chairperson  to inform  all PRI members to  include and discuss also  child rights related  matters during Gram Sabhas and create awareness among its people about  toll free number 1098 and other child rights and protection services. She  also said that Labour department needs to act proactively and streamline task force under it to address the issues of child labour.  

The Deputy Director  ICDS Aryoma Lowangcha gave presentation on legal adoption and punitive provisions and created awareness on legal adoption.
