IMPHAL, Feb 27: With less than a week for the first phase of ssembly polls, campaigning is in full swing and political heavyweights are visiting the state to woo the voters. Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi is to address election rally for his party candidates at Imphal tomorrow. Top BJP leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, National People’s Party President & Lok Sabha MP Conrad K Sangma, LJP Parliamentary leader & Lok Sabha MP Chirag Paswan and other political leaders have visited the state for electioneering.
Our Correspondent reports that after Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a high profile election rally at Imphal last Saturday, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi is arriving Imphal tomorrow. He will be addressing election rally for his party candidates at Hapta Kangjeibung in Imphal East District. A source from the Manipur Police Headquarters told AIR that security have been tightened and necessary security measures have been put in place in view of his visit. A team of SPG have already stationed in Imphal.
Rahul Gandhi, who will be arriving Imphal tomorrow will travel about six kms by road from Imphal International Airport to Hapta Kangjeibung. With top political leaders visiting the state, electioneering is in full swing and campaigning is at its peak, with all political parties trying to reach out to voters of the state. (AIR)
