ITANAGAR, Mar 12: Like every year, the Buddhist community residing in the capital complex celebrated Losar under the banner of Itanagar Buddhist Culture Society (IBCS) here at Gompa Itanagar today.
The festival, which is celebrated for 8-15 days, marks the beginning of New Year. Various cultural programmes including performance by Indian Idol-10 contestant Thupten Tsering and K-Pop winner, Lobsang Delek Khum enthralled the gathering. Earlier, community feast was also organized in Gompa commemorating the festival.
Losar is one of the most important festivals celebrated mostly in Tawang and West Kameng districts. The last day of the preceding year is a day to prepare for the arrival of New Year. The monasteries are all decked-up in the finest decorations and a blessing ceremony is performed on the first day of Losar.
