Deomali, Feb 18: Kamdon Boi, the first bronze medal winner in the National Judo 74kg Championship, Uttarakhand 2025, was accorded a warm reception at Deomali on Tuesday.
His victory serves as an inspiration to many youths and is a silver lining for a remote village like Turet in Tirap district. Tirap, often infamous for negative reasons, now has a reason to celebrate, thanks to Kamdon Boi's remarkable achievement.
Kamdon Boi, son of Photum Boi from Turet Village in Tirap district, made history as the first athlete from Arunachal Pradesh to win a bronze medal in Judo (74kg) at the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand.
Speaking on the occasion, the District Sports Officer (DSO) remarked that there is no room for cheating in sports, particularly in Judo or any athletic discipline. Success in such games is purely based on the physical skill and technique of the athlete, unlike written examinations or interviews where instances of cheating are often reported. He congratulated Boi for bringing pride to the region.
The reception program was led by ZPM Deomali Wangphoon Lowang, ZPM Soha Sam Korok, DSO (Sports) Noah Mongku, members from the All Tirap District Students' Union, and many others, including well-wishers and friends.
Kamdon Boi's achievement is a beacon of hope and pride for Arunachal Pradesh, showcasing the talent and determination of the youth from the region.
