CHAGLOHAGAM, Aug 24:  In a significant development aimed at enhancing connectivity and safety for the local community, the Indian Army, in collaboration with the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), inaugurated a 120-ft long Bailey Bridge over the treacherous 'Tha Nala' at 33Km on the Hayuliang-Chaglohagam road.
The opening ceremony of the bridge was attended by Indian Army officials, civil dignitaries, and a jubilant local Mishmi population.
In a statement, the Indian Army stated that  "Tha Nala" has posed a serious challenge for the residents of the border village of Chaglohagam for years, particularly during the rainy season. The relentless overflow of the Nala has historically led to road closures, risking the lives of locals and resulting in tragic incidents. The newly constructed bridge not only addresses this issue but also ensures year-round accessibility to the area.
The Indian Army's proactive involvement in addressing the concerns of the local community is evident through their collaboration with BRO to bring this project to fruition. The bridge construction comes as a response to the long-standing demand of the Mishmi population residing in the region. This critical infrastructure development is expected to mitigate risks, save lives, and boost economic activities in the area.
The opening ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from the local Mishmi population, who expressed their gratitude towards the Indian Army and BRO for their dedicated efforts. Officials from the Indian Army and civil dignitaries took the opportunity to reassure the community that their well-being remains a top priority. They emphasized the collaborative approach between the Indian Army, civil administration, and other relevant agencies in addressing local concerns, added the release.
