ITANAGAR, Mar 18:

The ongoing struggles of the teacher’s fraternity came to an end on Saturday after government announced to formulate a comprehensive plan to address the issues and demands being placed by agitating teaching organizations compromising Arunachal Teachers’ Association (ATA), Arunachal Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan Teachers Association (ARMSATA), All Arunachal Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan Teachers Association (AASSATA).

The representatives of all three bodies claimed today that the Education Minister along with Secretary Education in a recently held meeting had promised to fulfill few of their demands within next couple of months and kept others in observation, thereby putting an end to their yearlong protest. 

Expressing satisfaction over the outcome of the resolution adopted during the meeting, AASSATA President, Tagru Kasha in a press conference at Press Club told reporters that a notification against recruitment of 1500 teachers would be published soon to rationalize posting of teachers. The committee presided by the Secretary Education has assured to pursue the enhancement of salary of SSA teachers in context of 7th pay commission with utmost priority, he said.

 

On the demands of bifurcation of elementary and secondary education at District and Block Level, the government has turned down the proposal in view of undue financial burden. Moreover Education Minister has sought time to examine the bifurcation of the two directorates at the state level, so that there would be no confusion and complicacy in future between these two directorates, Kasha further informed.

 

Giving the credit of the outstanding welfare-oriented measures to the Secretary Education, Bidol Tayeng and Education Minister, Honchun Ngandam, incumbent ATA, Vice president, CK Yab lauded the government for keeping the door open for resolving of the genuine and legal demands of the employees and improving their working conditions.

Informing about response to creation of Principal and Headmaster Post in the newly upgraded higher secondary and secondary schools and single entry grade of Teacher that is  PRT for elementary and TGT of secondary education, Yab said that the secretary education has assured to put forward  the matter with the government. Besides on the demands of single entry systems as raised by the ATA, the secretary has promised to look over the matter keeping all aspects in regard to seniority and qualification basis to break the deadlock of stagnancy in promotion, he informed.

Later, on the demands of timely conduct of Departmental Promotional Committee, Yab informed that the Secretary Education has unanimously passed an order to all directorates to conduct DPC timely at least twice a year to ensure timely up-gradation of the employees’ official position. ×

 

While acknowledging the government for addressing the demands put forth by the RMSA, ARMSATA, President, Taba Billow urged the government to strictly adhere to the written assurance given to the teachers’ community.

 

He also informed that the secretary has given thumbs up for modification of TGT PR (regular) restoring 50% Promotional Avenues for PRT to TGT and to fill up the rest vacant post @25:25 ration form SSA TGT and Direct Recruitment, approved to increase the salary of RMSA teachers with effect from April and promised to take up the matter of timely disbursement of salary of RMSA with Government, pending with the finance department etc.

 

Terming it a proud moment for all RMSA teachers as it has received most of its pending demands, Billow has expressed hope that teachers across the state will perform their official duties with full devotion and deliver best possible educational services to the students ensuring quality education.
