PASIGHAT, Aug 16: Borguli village has been named the cleanest village of Mebo Assembly Constituency by unseating Silluk village which has been at the top for the last couple of years.
On the occasion of Independence Day on 15th August 2025, the Borguli village was presented with the commendation certificate by Mebo Administration for being selected as the cleanest village of Mebo Sub-Division in the year 2025-26 under Eco-Clean Mebo Mission. The Commendation award was received by Clean Mission Borguli Chairman, Kaling Tayeng along with the team Sisang Sirum youth group. This youth group leads the Clean Mission Borguli as torch bearers of village’s cleanliness drive supported and cooperated by the village heads and other members and groups.
Clean Mission Borguli launched their cleanliness mission last year with the Mission Ta:tang under the Eco-Clean Mebo Mission initiated by former ADC Mebo, Sibo Passing as Chairman and Mebo MLA, Oken Tayeng as Chief Patron which is continued by the present Mebo administration led by ADC Mebo, Nancy Yirang, Mission Manager, Olen Megu Damin and others.
The consistent involvement and commitment of the Borguli team have garnered appreciation from key figures of the ECMM. Mebo MLA Oken Tayeng, the mission’s Chief Patron, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Nancy Yirang, the Chairman, both praised the villagers’ efforts. This cleanliness drive is just one of the many initiatives under the ECMM umbrella, said MLA Oken Tayeng and ADC Nancy Yirang.
Last November, a project called Mission Ta:tang (to love and preserve birds) was launched in Borguli with the support of the Ratan Welfare Society. This eco-friendly endeavour led to the construction of a traditional bird-watching tower along the Siang River and the planting of fruit-bearing trees, with the dual purpose of promoting bird conservation and boosting eco-tourism in the area while upkeeping the cleanliness of the village environment.
Meanwhile, Clean Mission Borguli Chairman, Kaling Tayeng with ‘Sisang Sirum’ (village youth group) President, Miding Lego and General Secretary, Katon Perme, said that their objective is not only for beautification purposes, but for the healthy life of the villagers as a whole.
Nogen Yirang, Gaon Burah of Borguli village added that the village is not only striving to become the cleanest village of Mebo Sub-Division, but to be first in East Siang District and Arunachal Pradesh in terms of cleanliness.
