NAMSAI, Jul 14:  The residents of Nogtaw Village, located in the Piyong circle of Namsai district, stumbled upon a bomb while digging a drain in a paddy field on Thursday. Astonishingly, this discovery occurred in the exact spot where a blast had taken place back in 2018, raising concerns about potential threats from underground elements targeting security forces.
Otu Gao, the  Officer Incharge of Police Station Namsai, confirmed the recovery and disclosed that three mortars and a pack of RDX were found alongside the bomb. Upon receiving the information from the villagers, the Indian Army was immediately notified, prompting them to cordon off the area to ensure safety of local residents, he added.
He further, informed that in order to handle the delicate situation, a bomb squad team has been summoned, and specialists from Assam have been called in to safely defuse the bomb. We remain perplexed as to how the explosive device ended up in the village paddy field, but given the previous incident in 2018, we suspect the involvement of underground elements seeking to harm security forces, added Gao.
