KAMLE, Jul 28: In a grim development that has further shaken Kamle district, a decomposed body of a man—later identified as Pegmir Kasa—was found hanging from a tree in a remote forest area near Repari village under Kamporijo circle. The shocking discovery was made by local residents who were traversing a jungle trail and were alerted by a strong foul odor emanating from the site.
Upon investigation, they found the body hanging in a partially decomposed state and immediately alerted the police. A team from Raga Police Station quickly reached the spot and conducted a preliminary inquiry. The deceased was soon identified as Pegmir Kasa, the prime accused in a horrific attempted murder case involving his wife, Yajik Hui Pegmir.
Kasa had been on the run since July 21, when he allegedly attacked his wife with a machete, leaving her critically injured. She remains in a critical condition and is currently undergoing treatment at a medical facility.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause and timing of death. While police have not ruled out suicide, further investigation is underway to ascertain all circumstances surrounding the incident.
