CHANGLANG, Aug 30:Governor PB Acharya in his third leg of district tour reached Changlang by road from Khonsa today. Addressing a public meeting, the Governor called upon the people to be an active participant in the ‘Mission New India’. He exhorted them to stand against corruption, drug menace and other social evils. He emphasized that all the members of society must stand united.

Stating that there are many issues which are our shame but at the same time our challenge, the Governor pointed while stating that the achievers must be givers.

Emphasizing on promotion of the indigenous culture and traditions, the Governor urged upon the people to be proud of the cultural heritage. The Governor also stressed on preservation of indigenous dialects and faiths.

The Governor advised the people to avail maximum benefit from out of central flagship programme, particularly Jan Dhan Yojana, One Rupee Insurance

 

Speaking on the occasion, the elected representatives requested to Governor for his assistance in providing a Sainik School, De-addiction center and tourism circuit. They also briefed him of Refugees Issues, Militancy, AFSPA and Act East policy.

Phusum Khimhum, Parliamentary Secretary Hydropower,  Tesam Pongte, Parliamentary Secretary TLC and  Laisam Simai, MLA, Deputy Commissioner W. Khimhum and SP Amit Sharma, Former Minister T. Ngemu, were also present on the occasion along with representatives of business community, community leaders and general public.

Later the Governor also met the District Heads of Department and advised them to be sincere and dedicatedly carry their duties. He also advised them to avail the services of students and ex-servicemen for creating awareness about Central and State Flagship programmes.

Earlier, on his arrival, the Governor was accorded a traditional reception by cultural troupes of Tangsa and Tutsa tribes of Changlang District.
