ITANAGAR, Apr 16: The Botany Department of Dera Natung Government College, Itanagar, organized a one-day educational tour program to Bamboo Processing Centre, Poma, today. The main objective of the program was to provide students with a first-hand experience of the different types of bamboo being used for various products and to understand the importance of sustainability in today's world.
The program was sponsored by the Institutional Level Biotech Hub, DBT, Government of India, and was attended by a total of 43 participants, including teaching and non-teaching faculty members of the department.
During the tour, the students were exposed to the different techniques of processing bamboo, and they were intrigued by its versatile uses. They learned about the various products that can be made from bamboo, such as pens, jewelry, furniture, utensils, weaving materials, showpieces, flowers, and even water bottles. The students were amazed by the numerous possibilities that bamboo offers and its eco-friendliness.
