Yupia, Jan 10: Bamang Yayu, Zilla Parishad Member (ZPM) from III–Kimin representing the People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA), was elected to the post of Zilla Parishad Chairperson (ZPC) after the decision was made through a draw of lots against  Tang Yado, the elected ZPM from I–Gorum, representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In the Zilla Parishad, the BJP had eight ZPMs, while the PPA had six ZPMs and the Indian National Congress (INC) had two ZPMs. With the support of the two INC members, both the PPA–INC alliance and the BJP-led side were locked in a tie, necessitating the draw of lots to decide the winner.
Simultaneously, elections to 98 Gram Panchayat Constituencies (GPCs) were also conducted successfully by the respective Returning Officers.
The entire ZPC election process was conducted smoothly under the supervision of Smt. Tame Yajum, ADC, who served as DPDO-cum-Presiding Officer.
The election proceedings were witnessed by MLA, 14-Doimukh, Nabam Vivek, and MLA, 13-Itanagar, Techi Kaso.
