Chiputa, July 12: A person was feared drowned in the river Pare, near the hanging bridge in Chiputa at around 3 pm today. The deceased has been identified as Yikar Jaki from Miren village, East Siang District, a B Tech second year student of NERIST.
On receiving the information the Doimukh police team and the NDRF team were pressed into search operation. Students from RGU and NERIST also joined the search operations. Deputy Commissioner, Papumpare Sachin Rana and DDMO Nima Tashi also reached the incident spot to take stock of the search operation.
The search was called off at 7.30 pm due to darkness and will be resumed early Wednesday on both the banks of the Pare river belt.
