DAPORIJO, Mar 28: Deputy Commissioner, AK Singh recently inaugurated an All Weavers Federation (AWFED) Tribal Emporium at Daporijo under the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) Rural in presence of District Development Manager (NABARD) OP Maunglang at Daporijo.


Appreciating the noble efforts put forth by AWFED in promoting the socio-economic interest of poor weavers of the state, the DC assured to render all possible administrative help for its protection, expansion and further development.

 Stressing on maintaining the unique identity while manufacturing traditional handlooms, he advised the management and weavers of AWFED to be sensitive to culture and customs and to strike a balance while meeting modern trends.
OP Maunglang explained the meaning and implication of the scheme of Rural Mart under NABARD and said that the scheme is provided to all eligible NGOs, SHGs and Cooperative Societies as a support base for economic venture covering a two year period. He also informed about the provision of Rural Hut Scheme, conduct of training, exposure tours and for participation in handloom exhibitions conducted 
all around the country.

DRCS, Gyati Kobing in his address informed that under AWFED cooperative services is financing small short term loans at nominal interest to all weavers through cooperative societies and is providing various cheap yarns under a Mill Gate Price scheme under various schemes launched by Ministry of textile, government of India.

Dagmo Riba, Asst. Director (Textile & Handicraft), Hage Yasung (Chairman), Radha Naji (Vice Chairman of A.P State Weavers Coop. Federation ltd), members of societies, NGOs, SHGs and public leaders attended the programme.
