ITANAGAR, Feb 16: A two-day workshop and awareness programme on drug abuse and alcohol addiction was organised on February 14 & 15 at Soha Village, Soga Circle, Tirap district by HOPE Foundation, a government registered NGO.
Resource person Dr. Waseem Ahmed threw light on the ill effects of drugs and alcohol on health. Chief in-charge of Soha village Samthung Lowang appreciated HOPE Foundation for initiating the much needed awareness campaign. He stressed on discarding the deadly elements like drugs (kani), varied types of tobacco and alcohol for a healthy society.
Chairperson of the NGO, Komna Moidam spoke on the vulnerability of children's future in an atmosphere filled with drugs and  alcoholism. She said that drug peddlers target school and college students who are full of curiosity to explore life as well as noxious items which may lead to major crimes. 
An awareness documentary video on drug abuse and alcohol addiction was also shown to all participants followed by an interactive session.
On February 16, an awareness rally was carried out from office of the Circle Officer, Soha in all the seven localities of the village. Participants carried posters which displayed slogans on drugs abuse and alcohol. Correspondent
