Kalaktang, Aug 22: A two-day awareness program on Drug Abuse and Child Related Acts concluded on Tuesday, in Kalaktang. The awareness campaign was organized by the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) and Child Welfare Committee (CWC) under the WCD Department of West Kameng District, covering various government schools in the Kalaktang division.
Dr. Rinchin Megejee, Protection Officer, DCPU, spoke about the POCSO Act, while Sameer Khabisow, Counselor, DCPU, discussed the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act.
CWC member Adv. Ajit Sasusow elaborated on Drug Abuse and the role of Prahari Clubs for children. Tenzing Tsering and Ngawang Chodon provided information about the role and functions of the Child Welfare Committee.
Hirendra Kashyap, District & Sessions Judge, Bomdila also participated in the program and emphasized the importance of framing laws for society and their role in prevention, protection, and rehabilitation.
Lobsang Chhudup, Chairperson of CWC West Kameng District, advised students to stay away from drugs and encouraged them to come forward in reporting cases related to children, ensuring that justice can be delivered (DIPRO)
