Lazu, Jan 21: An awareness programme on the violation of child rights was successfully conducted at EAC Headquarters, Lazu, Tirap district. The event brought together officials from various departments, including DCPU, SJPU, CWC, DLSA, the Education Department, JJB, Panchayat leaders, NGOs, CBOs, the Health Department, Labour Department, and student organizations.
Organized by the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR) in collaboration with the Deputy Director-Cum-District Child Protection Officer (DCPO), the programme was spearheaded by H. Bangsia, Department of Women and Child Development.
The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Numeet Singh, IAS, In-charge EAC, Lazu. This was followed by the keynote address delivered by Hon’ble APSCPCR member Ngurang Achung, who emphasized the significance of the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act and the Right to Education (RTE) Act, shedding light on their critical provisions.
APSCPCR member Honluk Lukham addressed the pressing issue of drug abuse in the TCL region, highlighting its adverse impacts on the social, physical, economic, and financial well-being of individuals and communities.
Adding to the discussions, resource person Advocate Gulley Sumnyan provided insights on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, child marriage, and child labour. He highlighted the interrelation between POCSO cases and child marriage, urging for collective efforts to combat these issues.
