Dirang, May 18: Two days awareness campaign cum training on the Right to Information (RTI) Act 2005 concluded today at ADC’s Conference Hall, Dirang.
The programme was organised by the Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission under the chairmanship of Sonam Yudron (Retired DIG, SSB) State Information Commissioner (SIC).
The training was organised particularly for government officers, Public Information Officers (PIOs) and Assistant Public Information Officers (APIOs) to understand their roles and responsibilities in delivering the information to the information seeker.
SIC Yudron highlighted the importance of such campaigns in the state. She urged the officers to take due care in implementation of the Act. Through a power point presentation, she also explained the various sections of the RTI Act.
“HODs, PIOs and APIOs should take due care in the implementation of the Act as it was mainly aimed at bringing transparency and accountability,” she stated.
She also stressed on the need for proper maintenance of official records, properly catalogued, indexed and computerised.
Earlier Nima Phuntsok Circle Officer, Dirang while delivering the welcome speech expressed the necessity of such campaign in the subdivisions.
