NAMSAI, Feb 21: The International Mother Language day was celebrated at Arunachal University of Studies today.
In his address, Dr. Biplab Tripathy, Assistant Dean, Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences, informed the audience about the origin of the International Mother Language Day celebrations and highlighted the language diversity of North East India. He also appealed the gathering to preserve the local language with developing scripts for the native languages.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. D. S. Hernwall, in his keynote address, told that mother language is the language through which one can connect with others clearly and can express his or her feelings in more efficient way. He also emphasised on the preservation of the native languages.  H.N. Dubey, Director PR, AUS, shared some of his own experiences while using his own mother tongue and to be able to connect with people.
Prof. D.S. Hernwall, Dr. Dinachandra Singh Chingakham and Ksh. Manoj Kumar Singha from Department of Education of the university, took this occasion to inaugurate four of their books associated with pedagogy of language teaching that has been co-authored by them.
