ITANAGAR, Feb 11:  Thousands of aspirants, parents, students, NGOs and pressure groups attended the mass protest cum meeting called by the Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee (PAJSC) on the APPSC cash-for-job scam on Saturday following the failure of the state government to address their 13-point demands during the recently held meeting with government spokesperson  cum Home Minister Bamang Felix.
Besides registering protest, the other motive of the gathering was to discuss the next step of the Committee against the state government. People from all walks of life participated in the meeting including the protest.
Addressing the gathering, Chairman PAJSC  Techi Puru informed that after today’s mass meeting and suggestions received from various well-wishers,  the PAJSC  has resolved that the oath taking ceremony scheduled on February 17 next for the newly appointed Chairman and members of  APPSC should be postponed until the demands of PAJSC is fulfilled. "If the government continues with its schedule there will be a mass public protest. It is well planned by the government to play 'divide & rule' by appointing Chairman and members of APPSC," asserted Puru.
Following the demands of aspirants and parents, we also appealed to the All Nyishi Students' Union (ANSU) to call a bandh before February 17 next as the second phase of protest. Moreover, if we don't get a response from the government, then PAJSC wouldn’t give a second thought to call an indefinite democratic movement, said Puru.
Government shouldn’t test our patience level, warned  Puru while informing that from February 15 next there will be a democratic movement starting with today's mass rally and on February 17 next. The Committee also plans to protest outside the state civil secretariat and if required  boycott the statehood day celebrations.
Speaking on the occasion, Member  PAJSC  Tadak Nalo said that the aggrieved aspirants were expecting a positive response to the 13-point demands. Unfortunately, nothing went as expected as none of the demands were satisfactory, he said.
"The PAJSC and the ANSU hoped for a written assurance from the government but nothing went as expected. Therefore, the committee has made it clear that it will continue with serious steps against the government so that the voice of the aggrieved aspirants and the parents is being heard.       
Among others, Social Activists Pai Gyadi, Sol Dodum, Taw Paul president Pro-Dam Movement of Arunachal, Nimi Taba Chairperson – Arunachal Nari Shakti, aspirants, and their parents also expressed their views on the APPSC Cash for job scam.
