ITANAGAR, Aug 29: Tapi Mra, the first from Arunachal Pradesh to scale Mount Everest is reportedly missing for the last seven days while on an official mission to climb Mount Kyarisatam situated in East Kameng District, one of the highest peaks of the state.
As per reports, Tapi Mra, Adventure Promotion Officer (APO), has taken up an expedition to Mt. Kyarisatam situated in East Kameng District has not returned or communicated for several days to the base camp. A man from the Puroik tribe had accompanied the everester to climb Mount Kyarisatam, while five other porters were waiting at the base camp. Two porters who returned to Seppa on Sunday reported about the missing incident.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner East Kameng has sought assistance from Civil Aviation department for aerial search and rescue operations. Efforts have been initiated with local people to locate the base camp and gather information.
"We are expected to receive some information by Monday evening. However, the location is very inaccessible, and it takes approximately 6 days of a foot march from the last village to reach the base camp. Hence, only aerial recce and rescue operations will be feasible subject to weather conditions. In this regard, I request your good office to take up the matter on an urgent basis with Air Force Station, Tezpur for conducting an aerial recce and rescue operation," wrote DC East Kameng.
Further, the East Kameng District Administration has directed Yomgam Marde, Circle Officer Sawa Circle  to proceed to Veo-Venia village on Tuesday along with mountaineer Tame Bagang and team to join the rescue team.
