ROING, May 16: Muri Linggi of Roing, Lower Dibang Valley has become the second woman from the district to summit Mount Everest. She summitted Mount Everest on May 14.
Her expedition was flagged off from the district on March 5 last at Roing. Muri reached base camp on April 20 but attempts to move forward with the expedition was foiled due to inclement weather. She started for Mount Everest again on May 10 at 1.00 am in the morning and after 4 days of trekking, she summitted Mount Everest on May 14 at 8.00 am in the morning.
Muri Linggi did her basic course in mountaineering from National Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports ( NIMAS), Dirang in 2013 and was a part of the women expedition team to climb Menthosa peak in Lahaul and Spiti, Himachal Pradesh. Muri completed her advance mountaineering course from Darjeeling in 2016 and climbed the Gorichen Peak in October 2017.
