ITANAGAR, Dec 28: Arunachal Senior Men's Football Team kick started its campaign in the 76th National Championship for Hero Santosh Trophy 2022-23 being played at Kokrajhar, Assam with a 2-1 win against Tamil Nadu in the opening match of Group-3.
Team Arunachal made a dream start in the match by taking the lead in the 8th minute of the first half courtesy of a spectacular volley from Gemar Loya who was making his debute for the state team.
Tamil Nadu responded well and equalised shortly in the 18th minute through S.Tamilselvan's brilliant strike.
Team Arunachal started the second half in the same manner and Tapi Hakhe scored in the 50th minute on the clock to give the lead again to his team. Arunachal Pradesh held on to the lead till the final whistle and registered its first win in the championship.
Sangey Tsering and Sanam Ramchiary are Head Coach and Asst. Coach of Team Arunachal respectively, Minto Peyang is Team Manager and Tai Bhai has been named Captain of the Team. Tom Sangdo is Team Physio for the tournament.
Team Arunachal will meet host Assam on December 30 in their next match.
