ITANAGAR, Jan 8: Covid-19 cases continue to surge for the fifth day today with Arunachal reporting 59 cases on Saturday. This is the highest single-day spike after the Covid second wave receded last year. The last five days alone has contributed a total of 169 covid cases.
Of the fresh cases detected today, the capital complex reported the highest 21 cases with a positivity rate of 8.3%, West Siang reported 11 cases with positivity rate of 20% and Papum Pare reported 8 cases with positivity rate of 20.5%.
27 persons are symptomatic, stated the government health bulletin this evening.
As on 8th January, 83,1657 persons have been administered with the first dose of vaccination accounting for 81% while 65,7619 persons have been administered the second dose accounting for 65%. In the age group of 15-18 years, the vaccination coverage with first dose stood at 19%.
