ITANAGAR, July 25: As part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ – to celebrate 75 years of India's Independence, the Ministry of Power in association with Government of Arunachal Pradesh and NHPC as Nodal Agency organized ‘Ujjawal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya – Power@2047 (Bijli Mahotsav)’ today in 13 locations i.e. Anjaw, Changlang, East Kameng, Kurung Kumey, Longding, Lower Dibang Valley, Lower Siang, Tawang, Tirap, Upper Siang, West Siang, Itanagar City Complex and Papumpare Districts of Arunachal Pradesh.
The Bijli Mahotsav is also being used as a platform to celebrate the collaboration between the state and the Central Governments and highlight the key achievements of the power sector.
At Itanagar, the function was graced by MLA Balo Raja, Advisor to Power Minister, DC Talo Potom, and  Executive Director, NHPC Regional Office, Itanagar, Tapas Sinha.
Raja sought  cooperation to check the illegal system of electrical connection which is quite prevalent. 
"We need to work together to do away with such illegal activities which acts an obstacle in the development of society," he said.
He requested all to install the prepaid system of electricity to streamline the system of revenue generation.
During the programme, seven short films were screened by the Department of Power showcasing various programs and achievements of the government. 
The Bijli Mahotsav is being celebrated all over the country under the umbrella of Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya – Power @2047 for more public participation and getting across the developments in the power sector to the citizens at large.
During the events, dignitaries highlighted the benefits of electricity and the unprecedented growth shown the power sector over the past few years. The events also witnessed several beneficiaries sharing their experiences. Large number of participants i.e. Public Representatives, Zilla Parishad Members, Beneficiaries, Stakeholders, Students and Local Residents were present during the events. To engage with the visitors and guests, various cultural programmes, nukkad nataks and screening of short films on the power sector was also organized.
