LEMMI, Sep 8: In a historic event that marks a significant milestone for the people of Pakke Kessang and East Kameng, a district unit of the Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS) was inaugurated today at the Pakke Kessang headquarters, Lemmi. The event, graced by esteemed dignitaries including Y.D. Thongchi, Chairperson APLS, and Mukul Pathak, General Secretary APLS, witnessed an enthusiastic gathering of literary enthusiasts.
In his address, Mukul Pathak illuminated the early history and struggles of APLS while emphasizing the society's motivating motto, "Start writing, Keep writing." He passionately encouraged the students in attendance to embark on their writing journeys, urging them to capture their unique life experiences in words.
The inaugural meet also featured a captivating literary session, where local writers and creatives shared their poetry and prose. Notable contributors included Noami Maga Gumro, Tai Tagung, and Dahey Sangno. Esteemed executive members of APLS, Inumani Das and Wanggo Socia, also showcased their literary talents.
Padma Shree Awardee and APLS Chairperson, Y.D. Thongchi, underscored the pivotal role of stories and literature in shaping any society. Reflecting on his past visits to Pakke Kessang and East Kameng Districts, he expressed his concerns about the pace of development in these regions. He expressed his hope that literature would flourish and take root in these areas. Subsequently, a district-level executive committee for APLS was appointed, with Dahey Sangno as President and Banta Natung as General Secretary.
Dahey Sangno, in his address, expressed gratitude to the APLS team and acknowledged the immense responsibilities ahead. He pledged to promote a culture of reading among the youth in both districts and sought cooperation from all intellectual groups within society.
The event, meticulously organized by Er. Pai Dawe and Banta Natung, attracted a distinguished guest list, including SP Pakke Kessang Tasi Darang, Circle Officers Durin Dai and Duyu Nangku, CDPO Gogoi Natung, TDO Happy Sonam, Principal GHSS Pakke Kessang Takam Marde, TGTs Hage Yami and T. Kening, as well as students from GHSS and interested members of the public from Pakke Kessang.
The inaugural ceremony culminated in the formation of a district unit and the presentation of bye-laws and membership forms to the newly established district team by the central APLS committee.
