Itanagar, Jul 17: The Arunachal Olympic Association (AOA) today held its 14th Executive Committee Meeting followed by Special General Body Meeting for ratification of the decision of AOA Executive Committee Meeting at the Dorjee Khandu Convention Centre in Itanagar. The meetings saw significant decisions being taken to promote sports development. The AOA welcomed the state government's decision to revive the Arunachal State Games on an annual basis and decided to fix a permanent date for the events.
The house decided to participate in the proposed 4th North East Games to be hosted by Tripura Olympic Association at Agartala during the month of October 26 -November 2 next. 
A four-member committee was formed to study and submit an action plan for Olympic Games-qualified state sports disciplines affiliated with AOA.
The meeting unanimously approved the amendments to the AOA's Memorandum and Rules & Regulation submitted by the three experts Committee Members. 
In a major decision, the house de-affiliated 22 sports associations after repeated notifications due to their underperformance for last many years while an ad-hoc committee will be Constituted for the Arunachal Athletics Association. 
The meeting approved the expenditure statementspresented by Treasurer with regards to 38th National Games, 3rd, North East Games and 4th Arunachal State Games respectively. 
The meeting emphasized the need for collaboration between the government and sports associations to achieve the objectives of the Olympic Mission as announced by the Chief Minister.
"The AOA is committed to promoting sports development in Arunachal Pradesh and identifying talented athletes to represent the state at national and international levels," said Bamang Tago, General Secretary, AOA.
