ITANAGAR, Apr 26: Minister of State (MoS), Ministry of Jal Shakti and Tribal Affairs Bishweswar Tudu on Wednesday said that his ministry is ready to help the state government in every possible way to ensure that every single person is availing the central flagship schemes.
Tudu, who is in Arunachal Pradesh to review various centrally sponsored schemes (CSS) under his ministry while addressing the reporters at the state guest house, said that he is happy to know that almost 80% of Jal Jeevan Mission target has been achieved. And, the day when every single household is well provided with potable drinking water under the scheme, the mission of JJM will be achieved fully, he said.
He said Arunachal Pradesh due to its hilly topography has been facing huge challenges in executing the JJM. Additionally, poor road connectivity has also hampered the total success of the project in a few areas. Nevertheless, the state government has performed well in the implementation of the work.
“Central government is always ready to help the state government in achieving 100% target in the implementation of CSS under Jal Shakti as well as Tribal Affairs. Likewise, the Centre is ready to clear the pending cases of the state relating to both the departments,” he said, adding that the state government should ensure the schemes are being properly implemented and also actually availed by the public in reality.
The minister also said the centre is keen on increasing the budget for JJM schemes following the difficulties being faced by the executing department due to hilly terrain and reach.
He also said that the responsibility of the central government is to provide sufficient funds to the states for the CSS. But, it is the responsibility of the state government to find out a mechanism to ensure the schemes are actually implemented 100% on the ground.
“I had a review meeting on entire projects along with the concerned minister, Chief Secretary, and the officials of the line departments. Accordingly, I have directed as well as suggested them for the successful implementation of all the projects,” he added.
Meanwhile, state Minister of Water Resource, Mama Natung said that the MoS has been informed of the need for extra funds for the state for proper implementation of all the CSS under Jal Shakti during the meeting.
Subsequently, the MoS has invited him to New Delhi on May 10 next to discuss the issues being faced in the proper implementation of CSS in the state.
