ITANAGAR, Mar 10:  In the ongoing Budget session, MLA Wanglin Lowangdong pressed the government for answers on the strength and deployment of police personnel across Arunachal Pradesh. His inquiry prompted a detailed response from the Home Department, revealing key figures on law enforcement distribution across the state.
In response, the Home Department  informed the House that the total sanctioned strength of the police force in the state stands at 15,500 personnel across various categories, including Civil Police, Arunachal Pradesh Battalion (AAPBN), and Indian Reserve Battalion (IRBN). The Civil Police has a sanctioned strength of 8,617 personnel, while AAPBN has 1,870 posts and IRBN accounts for 5,013 personnel.
Providing a district-wise breakdown, the minister stated that a total of 5,262 police personnel are deployed across the state. Some of the highest deployments are in Changlang with 509 personnel, Tirap with 288, Longding with 250, and West Kameng with 240. The Itanagar Capital Region, including Itanagar, Naharlagun, and Yupia, has a combined strength of 646 personnel, with an additional 58 assigned to traffic duties. Tawang has 102 personnel, while East Kameng has 152. Border and interior districts such as Upper Subansiri, East Siang, and Lower Dibang Valley have 198, 199, and 177 personnel, respectively.
Specialized units such as the Special Task Force (STF), Special Investigation Cells (SIC & SIT), SDRF, and PHQ security teams also contribute to the law enforcement structure in the state. The STF has 121 personnel, SDRF has 58, and PHQ security has 130. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has 37 personnel, while the Special Investigation Cell (SIC) has 14.
