Khonsa, Jun 26: The ArSRLM Udyami Panjikaran Mela was successfully organized at Khonsa Headquarters on June 24, bringing together SHG entrepreneurs from four blocks—Khonsa, Dadam, Lazu, and Bari-Basip. The event aimed to facilitate enterprise registration under the ArSRLM initiative and promote rural entrepreneurship.
Deputy Commissioner of Tirap, Techu Aran in his address, advised SHG members to focus on proper pricing of their products and to identify items suitable for markets beyond the district. He emphasized the importance of quality, noting that competition is high and products must meet market standards to succeed.
ZPM Kapu Block Wiram Matey shared her personal journey from being an SHG member to becoming a ZPM, highlighting the remarkable progress SHGs have made—from being less active to now playing a dynamic and effective role in rural development.
The DHO highlighted the potential of asparagus cultivation, informing that the plant can generate good income within two years. He offered support in helping interested SHGs procure quality saplings.
The DVO Dr. Arfila Tingkhatra in her speech, motivated SHGs to take up livestock rearing (pashu palan) and assured support from the department through training programs. She added that vaccination assistance is readily available, and the department is committed to working in convergence with ArSRLM.
The Mela was a grand success, marking a significant step towards empowering rural entrepreneurs and strengthening the SHG ecosystem in Tirap district.
