Pongkong, Jul 16: Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles in collaboration with Primary Health Centre Lazu conducted a medical camp for residents of Pongkong village on Sunday to provide aid to people suffering from common ailments.
It's worth mentioning that 13 children died at Pongkong in the month of July last year during the monsoon due to suspected waterborne diseases.
A general OPD was set up in the village with the help of the medical authorities with doctors and nurses from PHC Lazu tending to the sick. A total of 117 patients benefited during the medical camp. The villagers were sensitised about the spread of seasonal diseases and various measures to mitigate them and urged all to use boiled water for drinking purpose.
