KHONSA, Aug 31: The Tirap district administration in collaboration with Khonsa Battalion Assam Rifles conducted awareness cum interaction program on Agnipath scheme in Chasa and Kapu village under Longo administrative circle.
While addressing the gathering on the occasion, Col Aman Ahluwalia, Sena Medal, CO 6 Assam Rifles stressed on security issues and drug menace in the region, adding that peace is the prerequisite for progress and development in any society or a region.
The officer apprised that Agnipath scheme is one of the best opportunities for the unemployed and school drop-out youths for which the Khonsa Battalion Assam Rifles has imparted pre-recruitment training to the youths of Tirap district.
Later, the Assam Rifles also provided portable water tanks to two government school girls hostel as part of its initiative 'Good Samaritan, Assam Rifles - Friends of the Hill People'.
The programme was conceptualised by the circle officer Dr. Ripi Doni, of Tirap District Administration to bring the security forces and civil society on the same platforms with a view to instil patriotism among the youth of the disturbed region.
