ITANAGAR, Jul 26:The Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society (APWWS) headed by its Chief Advisor Jarjum Ete, Vice President and General Secretary called upon the Deputy Commissioner Itanagar Capital Complex, Prince Dhawan at his office chamber today.
During the meeting, the APWWS discussed strict measures needed to check the menace of alcohol and urged the DC to take steps for strict monitoring over wine shops and buyers. They stressed that despite the legal drinking age being 21 years, many shops are found to be violating these rules by selling alcohol to minors. Appealing to check the mushrooming of the wine shops, the society further urged for strict monitoring of bar, restaurant and beauty parlours. They also urged the DC for proper verification and monitoring of private schools.
Citing the importance of marriage registration in a women’s life, the APWWS requested the DC to conduct mass marriage registration programme which would not only help check bigamy and polygamy but also enable married women and widows to claim their rights.
They also called for strict implementation of Rule 21 of CCS conduct Rule to be strictly applied against the government employees (both man and woman).
After detailed discussion, the DC informed them that adequate measures have already been taken by the District Administration to check the menace of alcohol. The DC also assured to organise special camps for marriage registration.
