ITANAGAR, Nov 5: Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority organized Para Legal Volunteer (PLV) Training under the campaign by National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) “Empowerment of Citizens through Legal Awareness & Outreach”, which is ongoing nationwide two weeks campaign to commemorate 75th years of India’s Independence at the premises of Administrative Training Institute, Naharlagun for the students of Jarbom Gamlin Law College, Jote.
Para Legal Volunteer Scheme, 2009, a scheme framed by National Legal Services Authority aims at imparting legal training to volunteers selected from different walks of life, ensuring that the free legal aid is reached to all the sections of the people; especially those poor, vulnerable and downtrodden. Para Legal Volunteers acts as an intermediate bridge between the common people and the legal institutions.
The training programme began with an inaugural session in which Yomge Ado, Member Secretary, APSLSA delivered a keynote address and briefly delivered on the importance of the PLVs at grassroot level to the students.
Budi Habung, Registrar, GHC, Itanagar Permanent Bench, Yupia gave lecture on Role & Responsibilities of State Legal Services Authority (SLSA) under the Legal Services Authority Act, 1987, and shared an overview on Judiciary in state of Arunachal Pradesh.
Special Guest Justice (Retd.) PK Saikia, Chairman, Lokayukta who attended the programme via Video Conference gave a brief note on Lokayukta and its functions. During the programme, an open interactive session was held where the students were given platform to place their doubts and queries.
