Itanagar, Jul 30: The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) team led by Chairperson Yalem Taga Burang made their first official visit to the Oju Welfare Association, Naharlagun. The team took stock of the infrastructure and its functioning. They toured the Shelter home i.e Shakti Sadan, Shishu Ghar etc., and interacted with the women and children housed in the facility.
The Chairperson Ms. Ratan Anya briefed on the functions of the shelter home and vocational trainings such as weaving and tailoring provided to the destitute women and children. She also spoke about the legal adoption provision of the OWA. She also informed that for the last one and half year, financial support from the Ministry of WCD is yet to be received.
Later in the half session, the 7th Commission of APSCW and 2nd Body of Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR) had their first interactive and coordination meeting at Papu Hill.
The APSCPCR shared their experiences with the new Women Commission team members. The teams spoke on child and women related issues faced at present. Both Commissions expressed their positivity to work on joint venture of legal awareness programmes for the benefit of both women and children in days to come.
