ITANAGAR, Apr 20:  The Mishmi Welfare Society (MWS) today alleged that the Galo Welfare Society (GWS) is trying to fulfill its "unjustified and illogical demands by pressuring authorities" in the mysterious death of former Under Secretary APPSC, Tumi Gangkak and appealed for a free and fair investigation into the case.
Expressing grief over the death of Tumi Gangkak, Vice Chairman MWS,  Sokhep Kri, said that the society is equally concerned about the incident, adding that "harassing someone in the name of justice is also not acceptable."
The Mishmi Welfare Society further called it a breach of trust by GWS, as during the last meeting held between both the community based organizations facilitated by the Arunachal Indigenous Tribes Forum(AITF) on February 27 last, it was decided not to rope-in Inspector Bomchu Krong until the investigation is completed.
"We are not here to shield Inspector Krong; we also demand strong punishment if he is found guilty in this case. However, he should not be tagged as a murderer until he is proven guilty," said Kri. 
The MWS appreciated the SIC team for coming out with the preliminary report and hoped that they will soon complete the whole investigation. Till now, the police say that no adverse report has been found against Krong, so we are confident  that he will come out clean. However, we will wait until the completion of the report, he said.
"GWS does not want to accept the post-mortem report, SIC team reports, and even other scientific reports, so we feel that their demands are unjustified and illogical," Kri added.
Vice President of Idu Mishmi Cultural and Literary Society (IMCLS), Akepi Linggi, stated that GWS is giving the incident a communal color. Despite the resolution in the tripartite meeting not to tag Krong as a murderer until the completion of the investigation, GWS is repeatedly tagging him on every media platform, he said.
Moreover, now we have some kind of apprehension that some people are trying to take advantage of this incident to save the accused involved in the APPSC job scam, as we all know that there are more than 46 people who were arrested by SIC/CBI, and among them, 17 are from the Galo community. So we have apprehension that the fight for justice took different turns now and they may be trying to save the accused involved in the APPSC scam, Linggi said.
"The case should be between GWS and the police, but the scenario is GWS and Bomchu Krong. There should not be any judgment based on 65 seconds of a phone call. The deceased family should give a reason for the motive behind the death of late Gangkak. So we appeal to the GWS and other societies to refrain from taking the name of Krong until the investigation is complete," he added.
"They are not accepting the SIC report, post-mortem report, so we have another apprehension that the life of Bomchu Krong is in danger," stated Suraj Tayang, General Secretary of Cultural and Literary Society of Mishmi (CALSOM). The SIC team was led by one DySP and supervised by SP Jimmy Chiram (IPS), both from the Galo community and during the Post Mortem, a representative of the family was present, so we fail to understand why they are not accepting the report," added Tayang.
