ITANAGAR, Apr 1: Thousands of people from all walks of life joined the mass sit-in protest organised by the Galo Welfare Society (GWS) over the delay in solving the alleged murder case of former APPSC Under Secretary Tumi Gangkak.
Speaking to reporters, the spouse of late Gangkak said that had it not been for the APPSC paper leakage issue, her husband would have been alive today. "My husband was innocent, and therefore attended every single interrogation summoned by the CBI. His death is a planned murder and is not  suicide," she said.
Appealing to the students and community-based unions of the state to support the cause, she informed that there has not been a single update on the case despite repeated requests to the police department. 
“We still stay in the government allotted quarter. Moreover, the daily routine of my husband was to go to the office and return back by the afternoon. We also don’t possess any high-end vehicle or private residence. Therefore, there is no chance that my husband was involved in the paper leakage case,” she said.
She further claimed that SIC police official Bumchu Krong was the one who called her husband for questioning before his mysterious death. Therefore, the officer should be interrogated to unearth the information on the matter.
“Even if the officer is not involved in the mysterious death of my husband, there will be someone who did it. This can be easily brought before the public if he (Krong) is properly interrogated,” she added.
The demands of the GWS include making the police investigation report public, immediate arrest and suspension of SIC inspector Bumchu Krong and other officials for a fair investigation, adequate compensation to the deceased family, and setting up of fast-track court in the matter.
The Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee (PAJSC) on the APPSC paper leakage issue chairman Techi Puru made a clear statement that the deceased was innocent and held a potential threat to those involved in the paper leakage issue. 
This is the reason why he was been harassed by the CBI and later murdered, he said.
Puru also said that the committee is not inactive as it has been watching and working out future actions on the matter.
“The team PAJSC wanted to join the protest on the murder of Tumi Gangkak but due to some threat, we could not join. The PAJSC is in support of the deceased family,” he said, claiming that the murder of Gangkak involves high-profile people of the state government.
Meanwhile, a member of GWS said that the CCTV footage, CDR and investigation report provided to the society clearly indicates that there is a lack of interest in solving the case. He said that the evidence that the society has gathered through its own sources does not match the investigation report provided to them by the police department.
“Moreover, why is the police department reluctant in arresting the alleged accused Bumchu Krong despite the case being registered under ‘murder’. Krong and his colleagues involved in the interrogation of the deceased should be suspended and accordingly arrested for a fair investigation,” he said.
