ITANAGAR, Sep 21: Days after Police arrested six people in connection with the leakage of AE (Mains) question paper, the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) has suspended its Deputy Secretary cum Deputy Controller of Examination who has been arrested for his involvement in the scam.
Member APPSC, Major General Jarken Gamlin (Retd.) AVSM, SM, VSM,   informed that the Commission has  put Taket Jerang, Dy Secretary-cum-Dy Controller of Examination under suspension from the date of his arrest i.e, September 16 last.
"The AE Civil results have been cancelled. Fresh dates for the re-examination will be intimated in due course of time. Thomas Gaduk, one of the accused and an aspirant, has been also debarred from all exams being conducted by the Commission till finalisation of the case by the Court," he added.
Gamlin, further  informed that the written examinations for Lady Medical Officer, Veterinary Officer, Asst Conservator of Forest, PGT and Dairy Development Officer have been deferred till further orders.  "The Commission  is conducting an internal audit of our office procedures with a view to identify the weak links in the system, and undertake corrective measures to obviate recurrence of this kind in the future," he said.
The Commission will take up a case with the Government for immediate posting of a suitable replacement for  Taket Jerang. Also, request for a review of the posting tenures of officers in the Commission has been made since too prolonged a stay in the Commission could be detrimental in the long run, he said. 
Gamlin also informed that, a complaint was received by the Commission from  Gyamar Padang, an aspirant, on 29th August last  alleging leakage of question paper during the said examination.The Commission immediately approached the police through a written complaint requesting a thorough investigation in the matter. Again, on 12th September Chairman APPSC called on the Governor to expedite the investigation.
"The police have now informed us that the leak indeed had taken place and that Taket lerang, Dy Secy-cum-Dy CoE in the Commission, was responsible for this leakage. At this stage of investigation, apparently,there is no other person of the Commission involved in the leakage. On behalf of the State Public Service Commission, I would like to express our sincere regrets for this fiasco. For the past two years or so we have been working tirelessly to streamline and refine the system of setting and evaluating question papers, and the system of conducting interviews with the sole aim of putting in place a very efficient, transparent and merit-based selection system," Gamlin stated.
