TEZU, Jul 28: All Arunachal Pradesh Labour Union (AAPLU) Lohit units came down heavily over the serious manhandling of labourers by official and public during duty hours. 3 labourers of Power, Hydro Power and Veterinary department were badly beaten within a month which is highly condemnable, it said in a release.
In a complaint letter to Deputy Commissioner, the AAPLU highlighted the plight of the labourers and stated that despite casual workers working under tough circumstances were assaulted. “If this immoral practice continues we will go for indefinite tools down and pen down strike. The assault was so serious that they were admitted to Dibrugarh Nursing Home and are recuperating. They are low paid and are from weaker section that does not mean that they are beaten like animals,” said Yalum Ama, President AAPLU district unit. If any such cases are reported from now onwards during duty hours we will shut down everything, Ama threatened.
The union further appealed the DC to initiate exemplary action against those involved in the assault.
