PASIGHAT, Jul 31: The Government of Arunachal’s recently launched UJALA (Unnat Jeevan by Affordable LEDs and Appliances for All) Scheme of Government of India has received overwhelming response from the general public here at the state’s oldest town, Pasighat.
Since the launching of this scheme here in the town on July 26 last, the office of APEDA, Pasighat is fully packed daily with beneficiaries opting for the electric efficient appliances like LED bulb, tube and fan etc. The town like Pasighat where energy supplies mostly fall short, the provision of energy efficient appliances with subsidized rates is quite an encouraging and welcome move of the government.
APEDA Pasighat Project Officer, Er. Kape Badak has said that, the use of these power efficient appliances will improve the power supply thereby bringing stability in power supply. Er. Badak said that, the response of people of East Siang, especially Pasighat town is overwhelming due to which supplies are falling short. As demand has grown here, we will require more supplies to meet the basic requirement, added Badak. Dr. Tangor Tapak, former Health Minister who also visited the APEDA office on Friday to collect the appliances and has lauded both the Central and state governments for the scheme.
