ITANAGAR, Dec 22: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Monday stepped up its attack on the BJP-led governments at the Centre and the State, demanding the immediate issuance of a White Paper and the resignation of Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, Chief Minister Pema Khandu and State Home Minister Mama Natung over the alleged `130 crore Lada–Sarli Arunachal Frontier Highway land compensation scam.
Addressing a press conference at the APCC office, President APCC Bosiram Siram described the case as one of the biggest land compensation frauds in the history of Arunachal Pradesh. He alleged large-scale manipulation of land records, fraudulent beneficiary claims, inflated compensation payouts and blatant misuse of public funds, all under the shield of political patronage.
Siram asserted that irregularities of such magnitude could not have taken place without the involvement or willful negligence of the political executive at both the central and state levels. He demanded that a detailed White Paper be made public within one month, clearly outlining the land acquisition process, identification of beneficiaries,
APCC demands white paper in alleged `130
disbursement of compensation, and the role of officials and political functionaries involved.
Rejecting the state government’s attempt to pin the blame solely on bureaucrats, the APCC maintained that political accountability cannot be evaded in a project of national and strategic importance like the Arunachal Frontier Highway. The party called for a court-monitored, independent investigation into the alleged scam, recovery of misappropriated public money and stringent punishment for all those found guilty, irrespective of their position.
