ITANAGAR, Jul 14: Alleging that injustice has been meted out to the Nyishi community aspirants in the army porter recruitment exercise in Tawang, the All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) on Tuesday submitted a representation to the Chief Secretary urging him to conduct a magistrate-level enquiry to ensure justice.
Through a press release dated July 14, ANYA informed that it has sent an email to the CS drawing his attention to the incident which is now publicly known through social media. As per the release, around 31 youths from the Nyishi community went to Tawang on July 7 last to attend an interview for recruitment to the post of army porter and even if selected, were discriminated against and denied jobs by the locals of Tawang.

Thereafter, when the Indian Army authorities didn't engage them, the applicants while seeking the reason for refusal learnt from one of the locals that there are no available vacancies at present. This resulted in heated exchange of words and it was alleged that derogatory remarks were used against the aspirants of the community which has caused them mental harassment besides hurting their self-esteem.
The association has reasoned that a magistrate-level enquiry is necessary to unearth the truth and punish the culprits involved in accordance with the law of the land. ANYA PR
