Mebo, Mar 10: In a major breakthrough in the wildlife crime case involving seizure of tiger skin, bones, etc., on February 24 last near the Arunachal-Assam border, another person involved in the hunting of the big cat and smuggling of its parts was arrested from Mebo, East Siang District in a joint operation carried out by Arunachal Forest, Police and Assam Forest Department.
The arrested person has been taken under the custody of Sadiya Forest Range, Doomdooma Division, Assam.
The Chief Wildlife Warden of Arunachal Pradesh (PCCF Wildlife & Biodiversity) had formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of forest officials to investigate the case to nab all the persons involved as the said tiger has been reportedly killed in the snow-clad region of Arunachal Pradesh.
Tiger is a Schedule I species. Hunting, killing, possession or trading of tiger articles attracts punishment of maximum term Imprisonment.
